CHAPTER 01
Jayden grew up watching his brother Justin turn student ideas into action at MLK. Justin served as Vice President and President, developed more than 30 reforms, and addressed over 400 students. Jayden learned that leadership is not about having the loudest voice—it is about using your voice to help other people.

Before Jayden's campaign, former MLK Vice President and President Justin Chen helped turn student ideas into visible action. His record is part of the foundation Jayden wants to learn from—and then carry forward in his own way.
Advocated for $50K in new Chromebooks to strengthen student learning and access to educational resources.
Authorized the first student government website in an SFUSD middle school to improve transparency and student-to-student updates.
Established a plan for student government leaders to make PA announcements in future school years.
Relaunched Agenda 24/25, the student-success advocacy initiative and formal agenda of the school president.
Launched Opportunity for All through The Chen Foundation to expand student access, participation, and support.
Led the creation of a student carnival during Justin's Vice President year to make school more fun and memorable.
Expanded on-campus fundraising events to support the Student Government budget.
Started planning an upgraded carnival experience that would build on the success of the previous year.
Delivered remarks and helped plan MLK's first AAPI Celebration Night.
Met with the School Site Council to help finalize the following school year's budget.
Completed the presidential agenda and submitted it to Student Government for review.
Advocated for Peer Resources and stronger support for future peer mediators.
Spoke at the MLK Field of Dreams inaugural ceremony with Principal Fechter and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie.
Developed a contact system so students could reach their Student Government leaders.
Participated in pre-school-year planning to help establish clear expectations for incoming grade levels.
Advocated for more MLK spirit and asked the advisory department for feedback on assemblies and campus events.
Volunteered with the athletics department to support student activities and school community.
